"I am a scientist working in the field of ass-shakery" - Levon Vincent.
At the age of eight, Levon moved to New York, where he grew up on the streets of Lower East Side Manhattan. It is here where he discovered numerous subcultures; skateboarding, house and techno amongst them. To this day, skateboarding and his love for house and techno are the most important factors in his life. This devotion resulted in the approval of DJs like Marcel Dettmann and Craig Richards, as well as a residency at Berghain and Panoramabar.
It was at the start of the millennium when Levon first appeared on the radar with a series of EP's on his own platform, More Music NY. However, 2008 was the year his career really took off; releasing his 'Invisible Bitchslap EP' on Deconstruct Music, the label he runs together with Anthony Parasole. 'Woman Is The Devil' off the same EP, became a worldwide hit. What starts out as a calm and subtle track, escalates into a relentless dancefloor destructor, something unique to say the least. This is what characterises Levon Vincent's sound and style: unique and subtle, but ready to do damage.
The American who has been living in Berlin for the past few years, is widely praised for his vision. His general interest in the scene always seems to come first; his own interest coming last. He coaches new talent, supports producers out of his own pocket, regularly offers his own music for free, he has even made his album available via WeTransfer, a day before the release.
A quirky boss. We'll see him in Enschede on the 4 February.
